We had always wanted visit this part of park, but were always backed down on that we felt it was too far.
It wasn't that far.
Route description
Piedra Lluenga 2.295m and Tiro de la Llera 2,289 m from Pandecarmen. Western Massif of the Picos de Europa.
(Tiro: Shot. There's a number of peaks in Picos de Europa called Tiros. They were places where hunters hide to shot Chamois)
Duration: 8 - 9 hours
Difficulty:
- The ascension to Piedra Lluenga has no difficulty,
- The ascent to the Tiro de la Llera is a short climb of a gully, with a small step at the beginning (I +).
We did not have very clear where the climbing began in Tiro de la Llera, I put some pictures to clarify.
We started the journey early, (traffic is forbidden from 8:30 in summer). From Pandecarmen we follow the path that leads to Vegarredonga. (1 hour)
We follow the path towards the Jou Santu, crossing the Collado de la Fragua (Forge's pass) .
We get to the Jou de los Asturianos. In front of us Peña Santa.
We have to left the main path that leads to the Jou Santu, and follow some cairns towards that plateau as shown in the picture.
We surround the Pico de los Asturianos and enter the Jou de la Canal Parda. We have to get the point between this two peaks Torre de la Canal Parda and Torre del Alba.
(We can easily get to the top of both peaks from this, but today's goals are a bit far yet.
A moment later, both goals.
This is the Jou de arenizas, and thats the west side of Tiro de la Llera.
And this is the gully that leads to the top.
From the summit we can see the beautiful knife-edge ridge of La Robliza.
The Cares Gorge and the Central Massif
Far down, the tiny village of Cain
Beautiful Peña Santa
Canal Mesones and River Cares
In our way back we stop at the Pico de los Asturianos.
This are the two peaks as seen from La Robliza
